Everyday, you win

Hi all,

Everyday, I have become more and more realised that no one else can take responsibility of my success but myself.

Everyday, I notice the differences, the changes and the growth, all depending on my own attitude and my own action.

Everyday, I control the way I feel, even when sometimes it is extremely painful to switch from feeling down to becoming more motivated and positive.

Everyday, I need strategies and methods to keep in control with my own feelings and actions.

Some days, I feel the pain when the bad feeling controls me but I have to get up and start again or keep going in the right path.

Life is full of challenges but also full of miracles.

You choose what you want and you can have just that.

Have a good day and choose to have a dynamic, motivated and positive day, so you will always win, everyday.

Take Care,

Coach Tenny

A Dynamic Day

Hello again,

Today was a wet and windy day in Adelaide where I live, so having to go to work in the dark and wet morning and then coming home in the dark and wet night seems to be such a drag, especially when you rely on busy public transport, but guess what? everything depends on your attitude, depends on how you choose your day to be.

I could have been complaining and moaning about a day like that but I didn’t. Instead, I decided to have an early night the night before so I could get more sleep. I set my alarm a bit earlier so I could have more time in the morning before I leave home to have a better breakfast, topped with vitamins and lemon juice with honey.

I took the meat out of the freezer in the morning ready to cook when I got home, better again that I texted my husband from the train asking him if he could start cooking it before I got home. Nothing wrong in asking to share tasks on the day. 🙂

To utilise my time more wisely, I also take my ipad with me to work, so I can do my reading and writing on the go while I am on the train. I did that today and it made me feel very productive.

Tonight I had a really nice dinner that my husband cooked, time to relax while chatting a little with my loving daughter on skype and writing this article to share with you. What more do you want?

That’s my dynamic day despite the rain and the wind.

I hope you have a dynamic day everyday that you can create yourself without relying on the weather or anything/anyone else.

Love,
Coach Tenny

Are you a complainer or part of the solution?

Hi there,

You probably agree with me that from time to time we all experience moments when we feel a little frustrated about something that may affect our lives.

Some of us will come across something that we are not happy with and decides to do something about it to make it better, and then turn it into something good, positive or enjoyable. That is an action taker and an achiever. I personally like that type of character and I think those people are role models to others around them.

On the other hand, there are people who complain a lot about everything that is unfavourable to them but they do nothing about it, because, they know that they have to work and put effort to change something.

You may think that those people are lazy people. The funny thing is that I know people who do that, i.e. complains and does nothing about it, and guess what? they are actually not lazy people. They are actually hard workers and dedicated doers. Then why?

Do you think they are just simply complainers because they have such negative minds? Maybe but maybe not.

Well, how about trying to help motivate or educate them. Some people complain a lot without taking action to change something, as they may lack capability to know how to visualise results, how to set goals,  how to plan and how to start doing one small job at a time to achieve their main goal that will change things into what they want.

Once you get used to doing that process and staying calm during the process, you will always achieve your goals, change things to make it better for you and you will complain less. Be part of the solutions instead of being a complainer.

All the best,

Coach Tenny

If You Want Something to Change, Change Something.

I hope I am making myself clear with this message.

What I mean with this is that we all have some thoughts about wanting things to be a little bit or a lot different to what they are now particularly when it comes to our own situation, whether it is our health, our financial position, our relationship, our job situation or our social make up.

Well, unfortunately we are all the same, we tend to think and wish too much but are not motivated enough or willing to take action on our thoughts and taking control to change ourselves or things within our control.

Based on my own experience, unless I get out there and have enough courage to change things for me, no one is going to do it for me. Therefore, I have no choice but to make changes to my situation myself gracefully and with confidence.

I understand that it is not that simple or easy to make changes. We are all creatures of habits but we can do it gradually. Make conscious willingness to do something that is normally inconvenient. That’s just the way it is, success is an inconvenience, so making changes is not always easy. We have to get out of the little box and get out of our comfort zone.

Before we can change things around us, we have to have clear awareness about ourselves and our own behaviour. Make realisation of things that need changing and take courage to change one thing at a time gradually starting from the easiest thing.

To help make the process easier, read, research and search for appropriate and quality guidance even if you have to pay for it. It’s all worth it.

Why don’t you try, make a plan now and start taking action. You can do it…!

Love,

Coach Tenny

Utilising your time wisely

Hi my wonderful readers,

Yes, time flies very fast, the first quarter of 2011 is nearly over and the royal wedding is just around the corner.

Each day goes by very quickly especially if you work full time during the day. By the time you get home, cook dinner, wash up and rest a little, it’s bed time, and then do it all over again the next day.

I don’t mean to make that sound negative, that’s just the reality but we don’t have to make it as a negative thing.

There is nothing wrong in going to work every day, that’s a good thing, most people who don’t have jobs wished that they had one, so we should be grateful for having a job to go to, so we can earn lots of money to live on and to spend on holidays and other favourite things.

To enjoy your work and have a balanced life style is to focus on whatever it is that you have to do at any particular time where ever you are.

Learn more to become more confident, skilled and knowledgeable in whatever that you need to do at work, on your business or at home.

Once you are fully competent with what you do, you will enjoy what you do more. When you enjoy your journey, you won’t feel tired and unsatisfied, you will just fly with freedom.

When you are confident, you are also more efficient with what you do.

One most important aspect to utilise your time wisely is by consciously remembering to focus until each job is completed. Do not get distrated by the noice around you, just focus on what you need to do.

Make sure that you take regular breaks, so you do not over do it and burn out.

Try today to learn more, become more confident and focus on what you do.

Good luck

Optimism vs. Skeptisism

As Featured On EzineArticles

Topic 1: The power of optimism to take you to your destination.

The Lexicon Webster Dictionary has translated “optimism” as an inclination to emphasize the happy aspect of any happening or circumstance. Phil. The conviction that the world is good and is building towards the ultimate in excellence.

“Skepticism” is disbelief or inability to believe; doubt; incredulity; a doubting of the truth of religious beliefs as revelation, esp. the Christian religion.

Jimmy Dean said: “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

According to my experience, observation and research, I agree with Jimmy Dean. We cannot control what happens around us but we can always change our perspectives on what we encounter and experience in order to have more peace and contentment in our life.

As human beings we have the ability to make choices. This is including making choices on how we want to feel and how we want to interpret what we see, what we hear and what we experience.

The two characteristics and attitudes I have noticed as being paramount and influential in our life are our optimism vs. skepticism. Whichever characteristic you choose to have, they both have capability to make a big difference in how we live, how we see life and how we deal with everything in our journey.

I have observed that optimists are more likely to be happier group of people and succeed in achieving their goals while skeptics are more likely to stay still, be more resentful, be judgmental, often feel miserable and live with a lot of regrets in the end.

Optimists believe that no matter what happens around them, they can always see the positive side of any situation. They are capable of turning bad situations into the positive side. They are hopeful and have high level of appreciation of what they have or receive.

Optimists see the half filled glass as half full (good) while skeptics see it as half empty (bad). Optimists think that things are more likely to do well than bad while skeptics think the opposite.

Optimism can generate creativity, peace, contentment, happiness, satisfaction, motivation, positive energy, results and the ability to move forward and to succeed no matter how challenging things can be along the way.

Because optimists are hopeful and eager, they are not usually affected negatively by the challenges they encounter along the way. They can in fact turn challenges into opportunities. They deal with all situations gracefully and move forward towards the next step of the process.

While I believe with all of the positive notations about optimism, I have unfortunately experienced a fraction of the downside if you were over-optimistic without calculated expectations. Being over-optimistic without being prepared with the potential hurdles or blockages during the journey can be disadvantaging to some degree. For example: investing all the money you have in a high risk portfolio without doing any research or seeking professional advice before hand can result in a big loss in the end, which can be very disappointing. However though, optimists, over or not, are more likely to succeed in the end, as they do not usually give up until they get the results that they want because they do not believe in giving up and they do not believe that they can actually fail.

I know a few people around me who are skeptical, unlike me. Whenever I tell them about something I intend or plan to do, they always want to know details and always manage to tell me the negative side of the potential outcome. They rarely see the potential success but they never fail to see the potential failure in anything. It is kind of tiring to be around with because they tend to drag you back or down a lot. They act as the blockages for me. Therefore, I have had to avoid being around them too much, so I can move forward. Sometimes I don’t even tell them my plan to avoid them trying to talk me out of it as this is the best way for me to stay motivated.

Failure is not an option for optimists. They usually see failures as temporary set-backs. They see mistakes as lessons and they learn from their mistakes quickly. Even the over optimists who take high risks, they are still likely to win and succeed in the end. It may just take them a little longer to get to their destination and they may experience more or bigger set-backs during their journey, although this usually makes them become much stronger people.

Let’s talk about skepticism now. Skepticism acts like a stone blocking a passage. Skeptics usually procrastinate a lot and do not move forward easily. They see the negative sides of every situation and they have fear in taking action. They usually fear to fail and fear to move forward, just in case things do not work out and they believe that something, somewhere will go wrong.

Skepticism is highly disadvantaging to human growth in life. In fact, I am confident to say that it can be dangerous to others around them, particularly to the optimists. This is because skeptics or skepticism can drive the optimists crazy. Skeptics are frustrating and stressful for optimists, because they tend to drag you down with negativity and blame.

Skeptics do not do a lot in their life as they always worry of failing. They are capable of finding any reason or excuse to not do something. They usually like to blame others or things to give themselves permission of not doing something, not making positive statement about something or not moving forward at all.

On the opposite note about skepticism, I can even say that some people deliberately choose to be skeptical in order to stay in their comfort zone and not having to do anything different or challenging at all. It is not so bad if they stay within their own zone. However, it is unfortunate that a lot of them are usually strong willed and strong minded people to influence others becoming like them, because they are not usually open minded or able to see other people’s view point.

Skeptics do not like to set goals, as they have no intension to move forward and they cannot see the point of putting any effort into things as all they can see is wasting time and not achieving anything. They do not believe in good things to happen to them and often under-estimate their own ability.

As coaches it is important to be able to identify if your client is an optimist or a skeptic. This is not difficult to do. We should be able to sense from their speeches. Optimists will almost always say that they can do and achieve what they want in life. They may say things like: I can achieve anything I want. Skeptics may say things like: yes, it’s all good to want something but there are too many people already doing it, or the study takes too long, the Government has too many rules, etc. There is usually always an excuse or two and they often blame.

Skeptics almost always have doubt or fear in their mind. They often cannot see themselves succeed. They have every excuse under the sun why they cannot do or achieve anything. They usually spend their time complaining, blaming and feeling sorry for themselves.

What they do not realize is how much time and energy they spend on staying still or not moving forward and by the time they turn a certain age, they will still be complaining saying things like: if only I had …. I would have …., I could have …., I wish I did …., so on and on they go. In the end, they spend a lot of time feeling negative, feeling sorry for themselves and never achieved anything significant in their life. They will blame other people or other things why they did not achieve what they wished they achieved.

It is quite fascinating what effect skepticism can do to people’s lives particularly if the degree of it is high and especially if they are around people who are optimistic. Skepticism or pessimism can actually become damaging to themselves and to others if it goes on long enough.

Despite the above findings, I think that if we were over optimistic we could take too high of a risk in our action and if we are not strong enough to handle the failure, we may become depressed due to the effect of the fall.

On the other hand, a high degree of skepticism may cause the same effect of living full of regrets as they never moved forward enough in their lives.

As coaches, we have accountability to enthuse skeptics and pessimists.  We need to motivate them to become more optimistic and positive, so they can keep moving forward to achieve their goals. During coaching sessions we should be able to identify if our clients are ready for long term coaching.  We may identify signs that our clients are not ready to move forward.  If they keep talking about the past problems and not willing to move forward, they may require therapy first before they can continue with their coaching sessions.

Therefore, as a conclusion, I think that it is better to be optimistic with ability to make calculated decisions before we take action on whatever it is that we decide to take action on.

In order to be able to make calculated decision, we need to be skilled, knowledgeable and experienced. We therefore need to invest in studying, learning, researching and networking to become the type of person who is confident and optimistic. Hence succeed.

Discussion:

  • Describe the times when you were optimistic and when you were skeptical.
  • Provide reasons that encouraged you to be optimistic or skeptical during those times in your examples above.
  • What results did you get from being optimistic and from being skeptical?
  • Which gave you the better result and which one would you prefer to be, optimistic or skeptical?
  • What did you do to remain optimistic?

What does Motivation mean to YOU?

As Featured On EzineArticles

Motivation is what keeps us going.  It is that internal energy and voices that tell us to keep moving and doing something, even as simple as getting out of bed in the morning.  We all seem to know or say we know what we should be doing in order to achieve what we want and to have a happy, healthy, content and prosperous life, but in reality, many if not most of us do not actually do what we are supposed to do or what we say we should be doing.

Motivation is one of those words that is so easy to say and so easy to talk about but not so easy to obtain or retain.  It is part of human condition to lose motivation on a regular basis, that’s if you had the motivation in the first place.  Some of us do not even have enough motivation to begin with, so we will need to learn and get into a habit of doing certain routines on a daily basis to obtain motivation. Once we have it, we will be required to keep doing those daily rituals in order to retain and maintain our motivation.

Motivation is the reason people succeed and the reason people fail. I personally believe that it is the main reason, because, unless we have this internal energy to make that first move toward any journey, nothing will ever happen and nothing will ever be accomplished.  In a race type of situation, if we never leave the starting line, we will never get to the finish line, and to get started or even to get listed to be in the race we need motivation.

Motivation is the drive someone has to complete a task.  The ingredients of motivation are combined with many factors which include simplicity, attitude, the people that we associate and hang around with, the way we think, how much we know ourselves, the way we help other people and so much more.

Motivation is the spark everyone needs to make it throughout the day to set and meet goals anywhere you are and whatever your circumstance, let alone when you hold various responsibilities such as parenting, employment, business and more.  When your circumstance is more complex you are more likely to need a lot more sparks to get you going to complete many more tasks in your day to day life.  However though, for some reason, people say that the busier a person, the more motivated that person becomes, because he or she is so used to doing things.  One question though, just because we do things, that may not necessarily mean that we are happy and enjoying the journey, which is just as important in order for the motivation to last and to find success.

Without motivation you will fail.  When you have apathy toward something you are not motivated because you couldn’t care either way.  This is the worst attitude you can have because it isn’t negative either.  Someone who feels this way isn’t capable of achieving anything because they don’t care if they do or not.  If you are feeling this way this e-book is exactly what you need to help you overcome your attitude and begin feeling motivated again.

When you know how to remain motivated with yourself you can also help others because your attitude will be contagious.  When you practice daily motivational techniques eventually they will come to you naturally.  At first some of these methods may be difficult for you to do or to remember.  It will take time for you to begin to naturally practice and follow these techniques.

Taking Action

  • Taking action on your plan is the most important part of any process of achieving goals. However, it is the most difficult part of the process.
  • Most of us have a lot of ideas and opinions about everything. We usually know what we want in life. However, we don’t always know how to start or to find the right path to get there.
  • Human beings have huge minds to gather and store ideas and opinions. However, unless you train your mind to put those ideas in order, to put a plan in place and to take action to go through the required journey joyfully and peacefully, you will not be able to achieve your goals successfully.
  • It is easy to want something and to come up with ideas but it is not always easy to achieve them.
  • There is a specific and structured process to put your ideas and thoughts in the right perspectives, to plan and to travel through your journey and to then turn your dreams into reality.
  • Your coach is here to work with you through that journey of yours to achieve your goals providing you are willing to travel through that journey to take you to your destination.
  • Without taking action on your ideas and plans, you will never achieve your goals.
  • The moment you decide to take action on one smallest goal, you will want to achieve more and your life will evolve to become the one you want.
  • For me, taking action to do various and related studies, jobs and life experiences to become an exceptional life coach has come to fruition.
  • Just remember though that everything requires a process. So, be patient, persistent and resilient.
  • Never give up and most of all, take action and keep moving forward.

Good Luck and Best Wishes.
